Visit by Senior Leadership from the University of Maryland

We were thrilled to welcome ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ณ. ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ธ ๐—ง. ๐—š๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐˜„๐—ถ๐—ป, MD, Dean of the University of Maryland School of Medicine together with Prof. Taofeek Owonikoko, MD, PhD, Head of Oncology at the University of Maryland(UM) Hospital, USA to Marcelle Ruth. The CEO and the Chairman had the opportunity to visit UPMC where Dr Owonikoko was leading a team or researchers at the time so it was a pleasure to have this opportunity to congratulate him on his new role at UM with a particular focus on Global Health and to show them around our well established hospital and showcase what has been achieved by the team over the past few years.

They were accompanied by distinguished colleagues in research and ethics in Nigeria including Prof. Clement Adebamowo, BM, ChB, ScD, FWACS, FACS, Associate Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Marlene & Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center; Prof. Man Charurat PhD, MHS, Global Director at the Center for International Health, Education, and Biosecurity (Ciheb), Prof. Titilope Adeyemo, Consultant Haematologist at Lagos University Teaching Hospital; and the team from the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) including the CEO, Dr. Patrick Dakum MBBS, MPH, Prof. Alasheโ€™le Abimiku MON, MSc, PhD and Dr. Charles Olalekan Mensah, PhD, MBA, FCA, CPA, CGMA, MACHE, Chief Operating Officer/MD.

During the visit, the CEO had the opportunity to discuss possible collaborations for research, training and capacity building. The Research Operations Lead, Mrs Yemisi Osakwe presented the advances the team had made including accreditation to conduct Phase II, III & IV clinical trials as well as the two recently commenced Genomic studies.
