Who we are

Our name

We are named in honour of our founder’s mother-in-law, Mrs Marcelle Ruth Odunsi (1931–1998), previously Vice-Principal, Igbobi College, Lagos and Principal, Government Girls’ College, Agege.

Our story

The Marcelle Ruth Cancer Centre and Specialist Hospital was opened to provide easily accessible, world-class cancer treatment in Nigeria.

At our purpose-built premises on Victoria Island, Lagos, we offer the highest standards of care with the latest treatments and technology, in comfortable surroundings designed to promote healing.

The clinically trained members of our founding team all qualified from medical colleges in Nigeria and completed postgraduate training overseas. Having chosen to specialise in different areas of oncology and haematology, they are bringing back to Nigeria their years of experience in treating and researching cancer, blood disorders and other, specialist conditions.

The founders are joined by an exceptional team of highly-skilled personnel, including consultant medical and radiation oncologists, surgeons, family physicians, radiation therapists, nurses, pharmacists, imaging technicians, laboratory scientists, nutritionists, counsellors and health-care administrators, who work together to treat and care for patients.

At Marcelle Ruth, the team provides Nigeria’s first world-class, one-stop centre for the comprehensive treatment of cancer and specialist conditions. In time, we aim to open additional centres in other parts of the country.

We are proud to partner with some of the world’s best technology businesses.
