A Story of Hope, Resilience, and Giving Back

The CEO was truly honoured to have Mrs. Ronke Solomon visit and engage in an inspiring discussion about giving back, stemming from her personal journey, which she has graciously shared below.

She said:
“I first learned about the amazing Marcelle Ruth Cancer Centre & Specialist Hospital in 2021 when I accompanied a friend whose daughter was receiving treatment there. The experience was extraordinary. Getting to know the hospital was life-changing for me, I would never have imagined such a state-of-the-art facility here in Lagos. The bright, vibrant infrastructure, which undoubtedly aids healing, gave me hope for the future of healthcare in Nigeria. In addition, the staff were clearly experienced in their fields and also showed extraordinary levels of compassion and support of their patients. For my friend, the fact that she did not have to take her daughter abroad for specialized cancer treatment made all the difference as she got the support of so many families and friends right here at home!

I live in Canada, but my life changed in 2023 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a journey of surgeries, radiation, and unwavering faith. Through prayer, resilience, and exceptional care, I was declared cancer-free in 2024.

This experience taught me the value of early detection and the critical need for accessible healthcare. I still remember how instrumental a simple mammogram was in my early diagnosis in Canada. That moment solidified my belief that no one should lose their battle simply because they cannot afford a mammogram.

That’s why I’ve dedicated myself to giving back. Alongside my husband, family, and relatives, we have partnered with Marcelle Ruth Cancer Centre & Specialist Hospital, a beacon of first-class care, to provide free mammograms and essential diagnostic tests for people and primary healthcare services staff. Together, we can save lives and offer hope to those in need.”

Thank you, Mrs. Ronke Solomon for sharing your incredible story and starting 2025 with a program that will impact many lives.
