Still reeling from the stories told yesterday morning at the 2026 May 1st edition of “The Platform Nigeria”, a program convened annually by Pastor Poju Oyemade, Founder of The Covenant Nation.

The Platform is a non-political, non-partisan annual event on Workers’ Day (May 1) and Nigeria’s Independence Day (October 1) hosting national and global speakers to share knowledge.

Truly honoured to be invited to speak on the theme of “Unlocking the Second Advantage: Transition, Impact and Legacy” where I did do my best to deliver my personal story of pivoting from a 30-year career in the UK NHS to returning home to Lagos in 2019 to build Marcelle Ruth, a one-stop comprehensive cancer & specialist hospital…from scratch!!!

It was an interesting morning speaking alongside other incredible leaders and responding to questions from an impressive, engaging audience of about 500 people who came out for the program on a national holiday however, I would like to share what I left with which was a deep understanding of what “being called” has done for others who have within their “second chapter” developed an agro-finance business, a University of Technology & Management, the nairametrics platform from media and a school uniform business supplying 500 schools following well established, successful careers…this time, the focus has clearly been on helping others and making impact rather than on individual success.

The stories were riveting, resulting in a truly inspiring and simply, well organised, well curated program that I am sure will continue to resonate with both those in the room and those outside it!

Many congratulations and HUGE thanks to Pastor Poju Oyemade, Ndidi Ukaonu MBA FCCA and the Team for including my story on this powerful platform…just the “push” needed by those sitting on the fence to take the leap needed to start that 2nd…or indeed, 3rd chapter 😉
