On 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, I had the privilege of being appointed as a 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐂 (𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫), one of 17 distinguished individuals honored with this title.
This appointment is more than personal recognition, it is a call to collective action to transform cancer care across Nigeria. I am honored to join a group that includes visionary leaders such as 𝐎𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢 Ivie Emiko-Atuwatse 𝐈𝐈𝐈 (Queen of Warri Kingdom), Ibukun Awosika (former Chairperson, First Bank of Nigeria), 𝐃𝐫. Each Friend of FLAC brings unique expertise, spanning traditional leadership, business excellence, health advocacy, and community development. Together, we embody the power of strategic alliances. By combining medical expertise, business acumen, royal influence, and policy advocacy, we can drive real progress in cancer care.
This responsibility comes at a pivotal moment. With the recent signing of a 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐌𝐨𝐔) 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐂 (𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫), 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐓), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐞, we are entering a new era of collaboration to boost cancer treatment, research, and advocacy across Nigeria.
