Close The Care Gap charity walk
I cannot believe it is already a week since we walked 5km in support of the world cancer initiative to #closethecaregap
I am still in awe of the response we had to join us, with only 1 week’s notice!!
The attendance of over 500 people (we ran out of t-shirts and caps but people still came in non-branded t-shirts!); the atmosphere of fun, collaboration and positive competition filled the air right from the beginning.
The phenomenal Kate Henshaw literally kick-started it at the Lagos State House Marina car park with stretch exercises followed by structured lines of participants; all done with precision to ensure we began at 7:30am on the dot!
Our incredible partners/supporters/family/friends (with a wide age range of nine months to 70 years!) swung into action and kept to the suitably fast pace through a short spell of rain (aka showers of blessing) that saw us finishing an hour later.
There are rumours that some people got dropped off by drivers mid-way whilst some got on Okadas to get to the finish line at our hospital… showing what introducing light competition does to ladies… although the amazing gift bag of skin care by Zaron Group of Cosmetics given to the first 50 ladies to complete the walk was certainly worth it!
Huge thanks to everyone that showed up, especial thanks to all who walked the whole 5km… and words are not enough to show our gratitude to our special guests and corporate supporters including:
We are committed to increasing awareness, encouraging #earlydetection and #reducing #stigma for #cancer #patients so do please #savethedate in your diary to join us for the Marcelle Ruth Cancer Centre & Specialist Hospital #walk in February 2023… date to be confirmed.
Cannot thank you enough for your support in making our Walk Against Cancer a truly successful event… click on the photos and look for a pic of you – https://lnkd.in/gB7wM8iw
