Closing the Care Gap

We were overwhelmed by the support of over 800 people on our recent “Close the Care Gap” walk against cancer.

Led by the Governor of Lagos State, ably represented by the Commissioner of Health, Prof Akin Abayomi together with Her Excellency, the First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun and Her Excellency, the wife of the former Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki, represented by The Well Being Foundation. We were also extremely grateful to colleagues from NMA, Lagos (led by Dr Benjamin Olowojebutu), MWAN, Lagos (led by the effervescent Dr Ibironke Sodeinde), the National Cancer Society, the LCCI (led by Mrs Toyin Idowu), teams from several corporate bodies and members of the Marcelle Ruth Friends Support Group and their families.

The rousing tunes of the Salvation Army band (buga o!) kept the 5km walk fast-paced, and the water stations (UAC), fresh juice, fruit (Medcourt), yoghurt (Danone) and a healthy food pack along the way were all much-needed and very much appreciated!

We have already thanked our sponsors, but once again, thank you for your generous support; your kindness will touch many lives.

We are also grateful to LASTMA (traffic control), MTN (buses to ferry those who parked at Marina back to base) and to Zaron for the beautiful gift boxes.

The team worked extraordinarily hard to ensure the event happened seamlessly and safely, and we are truly grateful and glad it all turned out so beautifully – in “The Marcelle Ruth Way”.
